Flag & Flagpoles Size Compatibility
According to popular usage, the length of the flag (long side) should be 1/4 to 1/3 the height of the flagpole.

Multiple Flags – The top flag should be no larger than the minimum size indicated in the chart above. Generally, the flags flying below the top are one size smaller.
Roof Mounted – The length should be ½ the length of the pole.
Outrigger Poles – Use a 3x5’ flag on poles up to 16’ and 4x6’ on 20’ poles.
Wall Mounted Banner Poles – Generally, wall mounted banner poles are 5’ in length or 6’ in length for the popular flag kits. Flag size is dependent on the amount of hanging space below the pole. Popular sizes are:

2 x 3’ (30x48”) – where space is restricted

2.5 x 4’ (36x60”) – approximates the size of the typical seasonal decorative banner

3 x 5’ (36x60”) – the traditional size where space permits
