Betsy Ross

The Betsy Ross flag was named after the seamstress who is said to be the first person to make a U.S. flag. The flag was commissioned by a special committee of the Continental Congress, which included George Washington, to make a new flag for the Continental Army. The circular motif of the stars in the blue canton was meant to show that no one state was more important than any other.
